The Foreign Investors Association in Moldova (FIA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, held a workshop dedicated to the Ministry’s plan to transpose the European Union acquis in the field of waste management, with a particular focus on amendments to Law No. 209/2016 on Waste.
Discussions focused on the main proposed legislative changes, the new requirements and obligations applicable to economic operators, and their impact on business operations.
Why does this matter for the business community?
Waste legislation goes beyond environmental protection, directly affecting production and packaging costs, reporting obligations, operational processes, and compliance requirements for companies across numerous economic sectors.
The workshop provided FIA members with an opportunity to review the proposed provisions, highlight potential practical challenges, and put forward recommendations aimed at ensuring a clear, predictable, and enforceable legislative framework.
Business community involvement in the consultation process is essential to anticipating the impact of new regulations and identifying solutions that support both environmental objectives and business competitiveness.
FIA Moldova continues to promote constructive dialogue between public authorities and the business community, contributing to the development of balanced public policies and the alignment of the national regulatory framework with European Union standards.
