FIA Investor Trust Platform – Moldova’s Energy and Critical Infrastructure in Practice

Friday 02 October, 2026
Start: Thursday 01 October, 2026 -

On 1 October, Moldova’s Energy and Critical Infrastructure in Practice brought together potential foreign investors and FIA member companies already operating in the country at Premier Energy.

The visit began with an overview of how Moldova’s energy infrastructure operates and is evolving. Premier Energy presented developments in the distribution network, investments in modernisation and digitalisation, the integration of renewable energy sources and the challenges arising from their rapid expansion. The discussion also highlighted emerging investment opportunities, from wind power and energy storage to solutions for balancing the energy system.

FIA member companies complemented this overview with other essential elements of modern business operations. Orange Moldova addressed cybersecurity and the resilience of digital infrastructure, as energy, telecommunications and digital systems become increasingly interconnected. Moldcell presented the capabilities of the local telecommunications market, from connectivity and IoT to cloud, hosting and 5G solutions for businesses. OTP Bank explained what makes an energy sector opportunity a bankable project and outlined financing options for investments of different sizes.

The dialogue with participants explored innovative projects, energy storage, the potential for local battery production, technical standards and grid digitalisation. The visit continued at Premier Energy’s operational facilities, where participants saw firsthand how the network is managed and how technology is changing its operation.

Through the FIA Investor Trust Platform – Trust Built on Experience, FIA facilitates direct dialogue between potential investors and companies with experience in the local market. This helps participants understand Moldova’s infrastructure, opportunities, constraints and available solutions through both presentations and the practical experience of businesses operating here.
