At “Alecu Russo” Theoretical Lyceum in Cojușna, more than 150 participants – students, teachers, and community members – took part in a meaningful dialogue on social inclusion and the importance of a safe school environment. Through Social Theatre, students from grades V–IX transformed the stage into a space where their voices are heard and emotions are validated.
Social Theatre is valuable not only for the messages it conveys – the importance of inclusion, acceptance of differences, and the fight against bullying, cyberbullying, and discrimination – but also for the process through which these messages are created. In this format, children are not only spectators, but also authors, actors, and meaning-makers. This co-creation process changes everything, as it fosters responsibility, empathy, and deep understanding that goes beyond theory. All of these are qualities of future leaders. Through this project, the aim is to contribute to the development of future leaders who will help build a better Moldova for everyone,” said Irina Strajescu, Executive Director of the Moldcell Foundation.
To date, more than 7,500 students and 500 teachers from 62 schools have taken part in this experience. The impact is tangible and continues to grow.
The partnership between UNICEF Moldova and the Moldcell Foundation, together with the Dialog Alternativ Association, is enabling the expansion of the initiative to 45 schools across 10 districts, offering students an active role in decisions that affect them.
