On 21 March 2024, the event “Closer to the EU: Connecting Moldova to the Three Seas Initiative” was organized by the Public Association Partnerships for the New Economy, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Europe Café and the Embassies of the member states of the Initiative.
The event presented the opportunities for regional cooperation and the potential of connecting the Republic of Moldova to the road, energy and communication infrastructure projects of the Three Seas Initiative.
Speakers from the Member States also presented the working mechanisms within the Initiative and the priorities of the 9th Summit and Business Forum, which will take place on 11 April in Vilnius and in which the Republic of Moldova has been invited to participate.
The Three Seas Initiative is a presidential-level platform of EU member countries from Central and Eastern Europe, which aims to increase convergence and cohesion, while reducing the economic development gap between different areas and EU member states, by increasing interconnectivity in the fields of energy, transport and digital environment. The Republic of Moldova has been invited to join as an Associate Participating State at the 2023 Initiative Summit hosted by Romania.
