Public consultations on the initiation of a draft law on simplifying the documentation process for migrant workers and foreign investors on the territory of the Republic of Moldova were held in the Parliament on 27 February.
The event was organised with the support of the Economic Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova and was chaired by MP Mariana Lucreteanu, MAI State Secretary Jana Costachi and Ion Lupan, Head of the ConsEcon Secretariat.
The public consultations brought together representatives of the business environment, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova, the General Inspectorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other stakeholders.
FIA was represented by Cristina Tiscul, who underlined the need for a systemic approach to the problem concerned, as employers are facing acute labour shortages.
Thus, in a context that ensures maximum security, there is a need to liberalise the labour market in terms of controlled and secure import of labour from other countries.
