Today, September 27, 2024, the Foreign Investors Association in the Republic of Moldova (FIA) participated in a working meeting of the Customs Service Advisory Committee, chaired by the new Director of the Customs Service – Alexandru Iacub.
The discussion topics focused on:
- Presentation of the Customs Service’s priorities.
- Updates regarding the new free trade agreements concluded by Moldova with certain countries, territories, or groups of countries (Agreement on Establishment of Free Trade Area among the GUUAM member States; Free trade agreement between Moldova and the EFTA member states; Regional Convention on pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin – PEM Convention).
- Guarantees and the expansion of guarantee instruments.
In addition, a dialog was held with the business community regarding the obstacles encountered and the measures necessary to achieve the outlined objectives.
FIA Moldova was represented by Inga Pascal, Project Manager.
It is important to emphasize that the Advisory Committee represents a communication platform with the business environment, as well as a mechanism to enhance transparency in the activities of the customs authorities, aimed at increasing the level of information among civil society regarding the policies promoted by the Customs Service and familiarizing economic agents with anticipated changes in customs legislation.
