Business Breakfast with Mr. Octavian Calmic

Members of the Foreign Investors Association (FIA) met for a „Business Breakfast” with the Deputy Prime-minister, Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure Octavian Calmic, on 16th of August. During the discussions, there was addressed the actions carried out by the authorities in order to improve the business and the investment environment from the Republic of Moldova, as well as the measures to be undertaken by the Government for the upcoming period.

Alexander Koss, FIA Chairman, declared that the Association would continue to get involved and contribute to the creation of a friendly environment for investors, while welcoming the openess of the authorities for discussion and exchange of opinions with the business community in this regard.

At the same time, Octavian Calmic stated that the authorities remain faithful in promoting measures to improve the business environment. According to the Deputy Prime-minister, one of the objectives of the pro-business government is to create favorable conditions for a prosperous market economy, which will lead to higher living standards, and the final beneficiaries of these reforms to be the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

During the meeting, there were discussed various topics raised by the members of the Association, including the authorization to use alternative fuels, free access to energy market, amendments to the internal trade Law, 2,5% “luxury” tax paid by mobile operators to the Republican and local Fund for Social Support of the Population. It was also discussed the impediments related to the land Law and Water Law, as well as the issue of waste generated in the Free Economic Zones by residents as a result of their activity, but also about the central public administration reform and wind energy.

Lastly, FIA members thanked the Deputy Prime-minister for the interactive and open dialogue, expressing their hope for the operative solution of the issues mentioned at the meeting.
