On 5 October 2023, the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova hosted an event, which brought together representatives of the European Commission, Moldovan business associations and the national competition authority for a table discussion.
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on competition policies in the EU and in the Republic of Moldova, the modification of the legal framework in this field in the Republic of Moldova, the main challenges faced by Moldovan business in its relations with the Competition Council, etc. These issues were discussed in the context of the commitments undertaken by the Republic of Moldova in the framework of the Association Agreement with the European Union and following the achievement by the Republic of Moldova of the status of candidate country to the European Union.
This event, organised for the first time in Chisinau, offered the participants the opportunity to initiate an open and continuous dialogue with the involvement of representatives of competition authorities both at national and EU level.
