The presentation event of the Study “Access to Finance for Women Entrepreneurs in the Republic of Moldova” recently took place under the aegis of UN Women Moldova, in partnership with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Moldova. 🤝
The study results show that women lead approximately 34% of the active enterprises in the country, yet women-led businesses generate only 23% of the total revenues of companies. 📈
Among the three most important barriers to accessing financing for starting and developing businesses by women are:
1️⃣ Lack of own capital
2️⃣ Unfavorable financial conditions
3️⃣ Lack of collateral
Moreover, the research findings confirm that women’s entrepreneurship in the Republic of Moldova is undergoing an accelerated process of maturation. Women entrepreneurs are no longer looking only for individual financing solutions, but for integrated mechanisms that combine three essential components: access to finance + mentorship + digitalization.
For the Foreign Investors Association, promoting a fair, transparent, and competitive business environment is a strategic priority. Equal access to finance for women entrepreneurs is an integral part of the concept of economic justice and directly contributes to strengthening the investment climate, diversifying the economy, and ensuring the country’s sustainable growth. 🌱
