On Monday, 7th of November, FIA members had an informal meeting with one of the two candidates that passed the first round of presidential elections, Mr. Igor Dodon.
FIA members addressed a set of questions linked to the initiatives that Mr. Dodon would promote, if he wins the elections, in order to improve Moldova’s business climate; what would be his position and actions regarding the Association Agreement and DCFTA implementation; what is his opinion regarding the situation in the banking sector; the way he is going to manage the relations with the Western development partners; the access of Moldovan products on the Russian market; possible actions that could be taken regarding the regional prosecutor’s offices and courts; what actions are needed to fight corruption etc.
The discussion focused mainly on the actions and initiatives Mr. Dodon would take if he wins the presidential elections, such as initiatives meant to improve the country’s business climate; the maintenance of the relationships with the Western partners; further cooperation with the World Bank, EBRD and IMF, which are essential for the economic development of the country; the importance of the Association Agreement and DCFTA in the context of the implementation of reforms (justice, prosecution and economic reforms); a compromise on the Transinstrian issue etc.
