On May 10, members of the Foreign Investors Association (FIA) had an informal meeting with Mr. Liviu Volconovici, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, accompanied by the State Secretaries, Vasile Luca and Victor Galuşca.
During the event, FIA members approached topics directly under the Ministry’s competence, including: farmers’ impediments to agricultural land irrigation and their leasing, and reiterated the need to increase the level of protection of existing investments in agriculture, but also to attract new ones.
In addition, the participants were interested in the measures taken by the ministry in terms of waste management, their recycling prospects, the secondary legislation on the implementation of the extended liability rules for manufacturers and importers of packaging, in the context of Law no. 209/2017 on waste, and the need to create a centralized collection of hazardous waste.
In conclusion, the representatives of the ministry expressed their openness to solving the issues addressed, and FIA members reiterated the need for continuous cooperation with the authorities in order to improve the investment climate in the Republic of Moldova.
