MEI Preliminary Forecast on Macroeconomic Indicators

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure has elaborated the preliminary forecast of the main macroeconomic indicators for the years 2022-2024.

The forecast took into account the evolution of the national economy in the previous year, under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the main aspects of the world economy forecast, especially the countries that are the main trading partners of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the inflation rate and exchange rate. exchange rate of the leu, coordinated with the National Bank of Moldova.

After a year with major challenges, when the economy of the Republic of Moldova was severely affected by extreme weather conditions and the pandemic crisis, registering a decline of -7%, in 2021 a gradual revival of the economy is expected. According to the projections, the Gross Domestic Product will register a real growth of about 6% in 2021, and in the next years (2022-2024) the economic growth will be maintained on an ascending trajectory around 4%, being in the vicinity of the potential GDP.
