On Thursday, 25 November, 2015, an international roundtable was held at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), on “Improving the Investment Climate”, addressing an audience of second and third-year students from ASEM.
Also, the roundtable meeting was attended by Dr. h. c., Mr Wolfgang Lerke, the President of the Moldovan-German Economic Cooperation Association, Ex-Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Moldova; Academician Univ. –prof. Dr. Gheorghe Zaman, the Director of IEN of Romanian Academy; Univ.-prof. dr. Valerii Sai, Pro-rector at KNTEU (Ukraine); Vladimir Gîlcă, project coordinator for Moldova at Friedrich Naumann Foundation and Andrei Sestovschi, a representative of the Moldovan Investment and Export Promotion Organization (MIEPO).
The speakers made presentations on the importance of FDI in Romania, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, the advantages and the requirements for attracting FDI in the host countries.
The event’s moderator was conf. cercet. dr. in economic studies, Director of the Center for Economic Studies at ASEM, Corneliu Guţu.
The Executive Director of the Foreign Investors Association (FIA), Elena Varta made a presentation on the role of foreign direct investments in transition economies and the importance of such associations as FIA in promoting a sound investment climate.
